For a new immigrant there is no limit on anything. You can bring your all belongings!!

However, you should let the immigration officer know of this thing at the port of entry and make sure he/she takes a note of every thing which you have left behind and wishes to bring into Canada within one year ( I hope) time and you get a receipt of this list noted by him/her on your landing record etc.

Does it mean that you should declare all the things which you left behind in India which you will bring within one year? What if I declare many things and later dont bring?

Agent WoodZ,
We know that you are the owner / partner of Royal Dubai Jewellers.
Advertising is not allowed in Charcha and has to be posted in the classifieds.
I request CD's in Toronto/GTA not to visit this Royal Dubai Jewellers, till he removes the advt. and posts it in CD classifieds section.

Peace

I migrated to canada an year back and brought some jewellery with me at the time of arrival which was declared at customs and was exempted from duty.I am going to India for three months and intend to take that jewellery back with me.Will there be any duty involved in it?
I also intend to take a gold bar of 1 Oz with me.Will there be any duty involved in it?
How much Canadian dollars can I take without declaring them?

Most of us do not wear expensive jewelery. So, we just get in and out in a normal way, just wearing what we exactly need.

when you immigrate it is nice to get the value assessed from a place you buy. They normally give it a description and a sale price as a bill of sale at that time. (If it is from India and you know the seller get it done the next time and carry it. You also have your previous declaration of goods when you first landed. Hope you have a written or a printed declaration from your first entry. If not, take a picture of the same now and get to the Airport on a free day and get it attested there by a CBSA agent, or on the day of travel will do too. The picture should give the value and description of it.

It will be like a green card format from CBSA. Any time you are traveling or crossing any border and returning with the same, it will give you a trouble free re-entry. There is no duty or customs check on it after that.

If you are carrying a 1 oz biscuit, they will ask you to go through the red channel and pay 4-5% Duty on its value. Please see the baggage list.
