Wow these Immigration consultants lead a busy life..
One of them i hear has this platinum service for 1 lakh per person by which they do the application and guarantee jobs. Once the person reached canada all they got was emails any time they saw any company posting openings on the job boards.

22K and credit card for visitor visa is totally ridiculous..

Then there are the honest ones like my moms Travel agent.
My moms visa application was done by a travel agent for 500rs until the VFS took over this service.
Last time the travel agent sent my mom to the VFS without charging a penny.
Ofcourse If he had asked for anything more and i would have filled the application myself and sent it to her..

Actually You can do everything by your own suceesfully. but since your parents are that old it is ok to go with the agents.
Regarding payment method my parents drew two Demand Drafts for the visa fee and service charges seperately and sent them alongwith the application. This was in 2010 January.
