How to go back to Mechanical Engineering Career

Hi Friends,

I got a degree in Mech Engg about 20 yrs back and worked for a long time in oil and gas company -most of the time in sales,operation and marketing ares in India. Then I came to Canada and worked in sales roles in Telecom and Insurance field. At this stage I have got very bored with sales and am planning to go back to the engineering field. I also see that even the trades jobs related to mech engg like CNC machinist or operating engineer get very good pay compared to what I get (about 55K/yr).

I was thus wondering if there is any way I could go back as Intern or trainee for EPC jobs or any kind of operating engineer roles. Even if I have to study part time to revise my knowledge, I am game with that. Could any body have a strategy or thought process?
