Hello,
I want to land in another province as opposed to the last time ---- any idea how long would the formalities take to move your Bank Account from Ontario to Alberta(Calgary) , i would be halting there for bout 2 days to take care of some unfinished business..... the first thing i would do is contact the bank to inform them of my move --- has anyone done this before? any advise you can give me regarding this ?
Thank you in advance.
No need.
In Canada, you can do business with any branch of the same back without the need to change the branch. So that is one option available to you. However all communication / changes will have to be done by the home branch.
So for eg. you have opened an account with TD bank, Mississauga, then you identify the bank in Calgary that you want to transfer account with for eg. TD bank, Calgary Street branch, Calgary and meet the receptionist there and ask what has to be done. She will give a form which you have to fill in and mail to TD bank Mississauga and the process will be over.
It is so simple.
Hope this helps.
Peace

Thats correct , I recently got my scotia bank home branch changed.
Done in one visit to the new branch. The bank does it for you in no time plus during the visit I got few good banking related advices from the bank officer.
Oh Thank you --- i was worried if the formalities would make me run around n round for each n everything in my tiny 2 day halt =)
