I am an IT professional, and am getting ready to move from Los Angeles to Canada. Can anyone give me their general opinion as to the comparitive job prospects, cost of living, quality of life, etc, between moving to Toronto OR Vancouver.
I am moving by road, and would like to save moving efforts by going to Vancouver, which is closer half the distance for me.

Thanks,
Aseem.

You need to do a thorough analysis of the specific IT area that you are in and compare Vancouver vis-a-vis Toronto for *your* line of work.
IT is too big a field to generalise like that.

Start by looking at salary surveys and job opportunities in both the cities.
Look at job websites like Workopolis and Dice and compare Toronto and Vancouver for your area of expertise.

I think saving a few hundred miles of driving at this stage should not be a factor in your decision making.
Choosing the right city to move to at this stage could mean the difference between getting a satisfactory job or not.

In general, you may find that there are more options and more scope in Toronto than in Vancouver - but this is a very general opinion.
Check your specific skill area.

If necessary, complete your landing in Vancouver and then drive to Toronto.
Heck, it is one of the most beautiful drives you can do - right through the heart of the Rockies and then through the Great Plains.
Take your time and enjoy the drive !

Best of luck,
Pratick
