Hi Everyone,
I need advise and hopefully you guys could help me.
I am currently living in Dubai and will be moving to Toronto in a couple of months, and it is for good :-).
I want to send my personal stuff to Canada but I am clueless about sending cargo via sea freight. I have asked DHL / Emirates Sky Cargo but charges are super expensive (AED 3,400 - around Ca$900 for 25kg only so I decided to send throu sea freight).
The items are:
Used Electronics (Bose, 3 year old, receipt is not available, anymore)
Used clothes/bags/shoes
Silk carpets (new but no receipts, a gift from Afghanistan)
Turkish lights (with receipts)
Middle East Souvenirs (and my Cambodia souvenir collections - no receipts)
My own books
I am afraid if these items are taxable. What documents should I prepare and any idea if third party will do the custom clearance for me?
I really appreciate your reply.
There is no tax and all.
but all your items are outdated ones.
best to throw them away and start fresh (just like your life) in Canada.
My 2 cents !
Please feel free to take it for what it is worth.
Peace

Thanks Tamil,
I did ask Emirates Sky Cargo, they said there is no Tax if the items are used and as long as I will declare all on one list BUT what I would like to ask are those who had "experience" sending items from Dubai to Canada via sea cargo.
Well, I have been in Canada many times and I quite a bit know what I could get from the retail shops so I decided to take few stuff with me.
Throw them away? Are you kidding me? I can not :-(. I might not able to buy those again (i have different life status now, i am not single anymore to throw money in high end shops, no way to say bye bye to Louis Vuitton... NNNOOOOOOO ;-).
Thanks anyways.
Best regards.
