If you don't mind, how did he do it? As far as I know it is not allowed. Just imagine all the ganesh bhakt in Mississauga do the same..won't city raise any objection?

It is deemed allowed by educated religious fools till somebody complains. If that happens few Mississauga bhaktrs will be fined for sure and will have repercussions on other activities of desi communities.

In India
upper court in India , at least in one state, have some years ago ruled that such immersions are unlawful.

in Canada

there are strict CEPA rules.
As per CEPA - Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999

The maximum penalties include fines of up to $1 million a day for each day an offence continues, imprisonment for up to three years or both. The Act includes mandatory sentencing criteria for consideration by the courts such as the cost to remedy the damage done to the environment. Violators may also have to pay for clean-up costs or forfeit any profits earned as a result of an offence. Corporate officials can be prosecuted if they authorize, accept or participate in any violation of CEPA 1999 or its regulations.

Here is the list of past convictions ::

Beware 'the visarjan' here may bring in bagfull of problems, in contrary to Ganesh ji taking them away. Pls keep the legend to the boundaries of Gods own country, this one is man made.

Now thank me for saving some desis a hundred blues.

People do it all the time and it was not such a big murti that anybody would have created fuss.

You call the city and ask them then you are right they probably would not allow you.

if you go by rule book, then probably you will not leave the house for work.

How many times you make a complete stop on STOP sign? How many times you drive within speed limit and had never crossed it?

How many people recycle...use green bin specifically...

A guy beats a burglar in his house and charged with attempt to murder....CANADA.

This teaches when and how to break the law....LEGALLY

Yes, on behest of burglar in US and Canada, the home owner can be charged. That means Canadian justice system does not turn blind eye to anybody in any situation and then do the justice as per the actual facts not on emotions which you are showing here.

Are you trying to say that idol immersion in Toronto lakes is a great idea? Seems like ever thinning gap between stupidity and faith is now almost permeable. I hope you will not be burning buildings if stopped from immersions? !!
