What I do is I have a Ganesh Murthi made of Silver which I use for the pooja and I also make a ganesh out of HALDI...after the pooja what I do is i mix/immerse the murthi in water(in a small water can) and i pour the water to my plants or may be you can pour it in the lake(as HALDI is considered anti septic i guess it should not be a problem)But this is what I do.
