Do you know the fact that in India if you go to government health centre they charge only 5 Rs for consulting and gives medicines free ? In government health centre they deliver baby free of charge ?
In India poor family gets medical treatment free of cost .
Also there are several charity hospitals they even do heart surgery free of cost .
Every place have positive and negative things just focus on positive things .
Just imagine that how 1200 million people live in 1/2 of land area of canada ?
Yes, & you talk of a developed world, here's an example "Ireland" where a Indian dentists lady died just because of Govt. protocol. The fetus was (almost dead) releasing toxins inside the womb, causing toxaemia to the mother; & they refused to do an abortion, which led to her death. Dr's just refused to remove the fetus from the womb causing her death. They were just following their guidelines (& they didn't cared about her life).
This is what you get in return. Canada has a lot of similarities to Ireland.
What good is your quality, when its not effective (or efficient enough).
Keep in mind several Indian Pharma companies are major exporters of pharmaceuticals & they are used worldwide, including US/Canada/Europe (so called developed countries).
Grow-up kid & start discovering facts, stop preaching "Most of medicines in India are fake".
I too am on a similar boat as vivek901!! with the added advantage of working on contracts!!! I have no insurance at all, dental or medical or extended. Could anyone please suggest-
a. any good health plan that they have been using, dental, health and extended for me and my wife.
b. am having terrible pain in the gums- have not been able to sleep at all for the past three days- i had some anitbiotics from home, but it is not a full course of medicine- and i need to take the full course asap. being a weekend I am at a loss as to what to do, any advise or information will be very helpful.. am at my wits end. I live in Toronto.

BUT for now... : Go to the pharmacy and see the druggist there. He might provide you with some medications which will give you temporary relief. One such medicine is called ANBESOL. http://www.anbesol.com/ Also take two tablets of Extra Strength Tylenol for a start. Then, one every SIX Hours.
DO NOT Drink any HOT refreshments or EXTREMELY COLD treats till all of the discomfort goes away.
Some people have extremely sensitive gums. So take good care of the same. The best thing to do is to go to the walk in clinic and seek medical help there.
