Who Can Apply for Canadian Citizenship.

To become a Canadian citizen, you must meet the following basic eligibility requirements:

You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must be a Permanent Resident of Canada.
You must have resided in Canada for at least three of the last four years.
You must not have any criminal prohibitions.
You must pass the Citizenship Test and Interview.

These are the requirements that which you have to qualify to APPLY for that.

Some of us take a months vacation each year and go out of the country, so we have to wait for Three years plus Three more months.

Some only stay Six months out of an year here. Business people and Border jumpers between USA and Canada, et all...do that. For them it is very difficult to fill in Three full years of stay, i.e., 1095 days, even out of Four years to qualify for Citizenship.

Just for your calculations :
For an example, If you land on the first of January of an year into Canada, Your entry date is that specific date. Anything you accomplished PRIOR to this date has NO MERITS in the calculation of the required number of days, when you are calculating them in your application. So, start your calculations from the date of entry.

Some who come down just to get PR and spend a few days or months, trying to land a job here and leave after that and then to return after Three years, cannot add these into calculation, the few days for CITIZENSHIP, that they spent here after landing. So, they ask you to take a period of THREE Years out of ANY FOUR YEARS, that will give you a total of 1095 days. Now you can juggle the start date to get the required 1095 days. {But those few days or months that you spent here in Canada are still good for calculation of the qualifying days for PERMANENT RESIDENCY renewal !.}

After all of the qualifying etc., and applying for it, they keep in the limbo land for another year and cook you in a cauldron, getting you jitterbugs in your stomach and shoot a set of hundred questions, asking you to find out who a METI is? ! I guess you want to know who they are too.... More on it another day, for now read the book they will give you for the exam.

Now they tell us that they do not have much money for the processing and also for the Spousal and Parental sponsorship too for the Immigrants and their families and ask you to hold on... all of you should tell them that it is unfair to do so. HOW? Write a very nice letter to the M.P. expressing your displeasure as to how the Government is treating new immigrants and their immediate families.
