Hi All,

I have applied citizenship in Sept. end..and as per Citizenship goverment web site it will take around 12 month to get citizenship.

During this 3 years + 3 month, I was in canada with full time employment, only visited india for 10 days.

I have been living far from my family during last 10 years..study+overseas job+ canada stay..etc.

Now, I want to take a break and also want to give some exam for that I want to go India for 3-4 month and stay with family.

I am planning to go after my citizenship test....so can be outside that much long.... when your citizenship is in the process.
I will keep my rented appartment here...and friends will provide me info..if they will receive any letter from immigration.

Also I hav applied for parent immgration, they will may be pick up this file during that time...

so I am confuse..if anyone knows about it pls guide me.

In the title of your post you want to know whether you can leave Canada after applying for citizenship. In the body of your message you say you plan to go after your citizenship test. What exactly is your question?

Well my advice is for you wait until you get your citizenship test , CIC can ask you for fingure prints anytime coz in my case they asked me for fingure prints after 9 months..

What is this finger print stuff for citizenship that you guys talk about? Having applied for it last year, I recently got my citizenship. I did not go thro any finger printing requirement. Is it something new that has been introduced?

no its not new... not everyone is asked for fingerprints... rcmp will ask for fingerprints in cases where there are doubts of identity (change of name, someone with a similar name etc) when it cannot be distinctly established.. and/or when there is suspicion that the person may have had criminal offences registered or pending against them...

approximately one third of all citizenship applicants are asked to provide fingerprints...

After applying for Citizenship you can't leave Country for morethan 4 Weeks without informing CIC.Otherwise they can create a problem.
