Canadian Citizen - Residence in Toronto and working in Quebec

Hi,

I have been living in Toronto for 6 years and I came on PR and now a Canadian citizen.

I have a job offer as a consultant in Quebec. the project is for one year and I am wondering:

1) what happends with OHIP
2) how do I save on Taxes... Do I have to pay to ON & Quebec

Can you please help me answering the above two questions.

OHIP will not be affected as long as you maintain physical residency in ON.

You will have to file taxes in both provinces and take credit in ON for taxes paid/owed in QC. My assumption would be, you file QC taxes first since that's your wage earning province and then file ON and take credit in ON for taxes already paid. If ON taxes are higher than QC, you will have to pay the difference to ON.

If you move to QC, then OHIP is lost and you will not have double province tax issues.
