I am currently working here in Detroit area on H1B visa since last few years. I recently got my Canadian PR landing done, but still am living and working in Detroit. I am planning to move to Toronto soon, but intend to continue working with the same company in US for a few months thereafter on the H1B visa. Can you please guide me if this is possible? Can i live in Toronto and travel for work to US on H1B visa on a weekly basis (Mon-Thu) and go back to Toronto on the weekends (Fri-Sun). Would I have trouble at US or Canadian Borders while crossing by land? Your expert guidance would be of great help and much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
Yes, you can do that and will not have any problems entering the US. If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa to enter the US, you need to have a valid stamped visa on your passport at all time. Automatic validation will not work in your case.
In regards to entering Canada, your 4 day per week absence from Canada may be questioned as you are not commuting but traveling. I am not saying it will be a problem, but anticipate questions.

Thanks for the information Dimple.
Do you think thereare lots of people holding Candian PR working in the US on a H1B visa.
When you say be ready for questions while entering Canada, is it because I am on PR and still working for 4 days in US? Can they stop me from entering into Canada? If yes, for what reasons?
Do you know if the nights that I am in Canada would count towards the 720 days required in a 5 year period?
Lastly, I do not know any good immigration lawyers who would know about Canada and US immigration details. Can you please suggest me one so that I can get some advice from them too.
Thanks again for your help.
I am sure there are a number of them who are PR and working on H1, especially along the border towns such as Windsor.
Yes, your 4 day absence may raise further questions. I am not saying it is a problem as long you tell them you work in the US and live in Toronto or wherever. Also, establish a bonafide residence in Canada (driver's licence, vehicle plates, financial accounts, etc, etc). Your vehicle will not be allowed into Canada with US plates if you tell them you are living in Canada (other than for the time period you need to plate the vehicle).
If you are working in Detroit area, why do you want to live in Toronto? Have you considered Windsor or eastern suburbs (Tecumseh, Lakeshore, etc) and commute? By commuting, you don't lose time from maintaining PR obligations as well you can accumulate time toward citizenship. Southern and eastern suburbs of Windsor are generally good.
Yes, the nights in Canada will count toward 720 days.
I don't know any immigration lawyers either.
Finally, remember, residency is where your head touches the pillow for the night.
