Which is the best location to give G test? I gave my G test @ port union yesterday, I failed. I just tried to switch off my GPS as soon as I got out of the parking lot (I know I should have done it before)..as soon as I did that, the examiner did not proceed with the test and instantly failed me saying that I should not do that, he was very rude. I did not even get an opportunity to do the test. I have driven a lot on highways (frequent long trips to Ottawa/Kingston) etc. I felt really bad since I did not get an opportunity to do the test for 75$ which I paid. I have paid the fee again, from Sep 1st 2013, they have raised all fees by 10$, due to which I paid 85$, but this time around I want to make sure I pass. So which would be a good location??
Try giving your test at Guelph as its comparatively less crowded centre. Port Union is a busy centre and highway test will be on 401. That being said, except to get failed anywhere in Canada if you try to operate the GPS or phone during the test.
Good luck..
How is Oshawa? Guelph is little far off (I live near Donmills/Eglington)..does Guelph have significant advantage over Oshawa?

I am not sure about Oshawa as I haven't been there. Regardless of where you give the test, if you are confident in your driving abilities, follow all the rules and do proper shoulder checking/mirror checking technique and keep to speed limit, you should do well in the test. Forget your first attempt and move on.
Everyone told that Brampton was the hardest when I came here in 2004, I passed G on the first attempt; its not that hard. On the other hand, my wife got scared after the first failed attempt in Toronto that she took both G2 and G from Guelph (as recommended by her instructor). Getting G on the first attempt was a big confidence boost for her and I believe she is a very competent and safe driver now.
One advantage I was told about Guelph is that the speed limit is 80 and the examiners are mostly friendly. My wife went in the instructors car as he took 2 people that day to Geulph and I think she paid aroud 150 or 200 dollars.
You said .... you didn't really gave the test because of the GPS. Why you worry about your performance. Anyway if you doubt about your driving skills on highways while examiner beside you and if you do not want to take any chances and want to PASS in one shot without FAIL ..... then ........
book at Guelph ... go there previous day ... drive on those roads several times so that you know the roads and turnings, signals etc. Then have good night sleep and take the test on next day. You will make it.
