The episode is getting into a major diplomatic row.

http://in.news.yahoo.com/diplomatic-row--furious-india-hits-back-at-us

In India we have two sets of rules, one for the common man and another for the babus and netas. The diplomat might have carried it too far.

The USA too is notorious for frisking and strip-searching our ministers and even our former President Abdul Kalam when they tour USA.

Our MSM and people like Arrogant Goswami were livid at what happened to the diplomat. As usual, he lined up a panel in Times Now but would not let them speak.

We can see more drama and action in the coming days. Time pass for the coming week.

Finally, why our womenfolk are so obsessed with hiring domestic help? Can't they do it themselves or take their family members help. Is it not after all their own home work.

Am in danger of losing morning coffee and breakfast.

" Finally, why our womenfolk are so obsessed with hiring domestic help? Can't they do it themselves or take their family members help. Is it not after all their own home work."

This behavior is ruining people in India and people have become so dependent. My parents were surprised to see cleaning the washroom, dishes and broom-ing the floor.

Had I not lived in North America, I wouldn't have done even a fraction of what I did..
Any how, the labor shortage is killing them plus the internet is making such chores done by self (in developed nations) is visible to the society, you could expect it soon.

At least the NRIs are teaching lesson to the local there.

The issue is not about domestic help. Its more to do by the way in which a diplomat is strip searched, & jailed with hardcore criminals/drug addicts/sex workers.
I salute Yashwant Sinha, to arrest all those companions who have come to India on a companion visa, as Gay/Lesbian is termed illegal in India by Supreme Court.

And as far as domestic help is concerned, to do house work yourself or hire a domestic help. Its all an individual matter of choice. Why do people hire live-in caregivers, or nanny's.. they are also domestic help.

And just because you can do, or you want to do house work, or you have relatives to assist you in doing so, doesn't mean everyone should do. After all she is a diplomat (she isn't a immigrant worker living in a basement, or so).. she is representing India. She should have the same honour as a US diplomat gets in India.

Guys,
This is double standard.
For this officer, India has retaliated in a very big way against US diplomats in India.
However, Pakistan has been give us more trouble but yet our politicians have done nothing.
Is it because the person in question is an IFS officier in New York while the latter are Jawans and second class citizens?

Peace by Murali

P.s. What would happen if USA retaliates by closing the H1B visa's being issued, giving a hard time to the foreign IT workers sent by Indian IT companies, refuses to buy Indian pharma products etc...

It is kind of over action and over reaction from both the parties.
Anyway, if US retaliates and mess with H1B ... these things will happen..

1.US will lose their competitive edge in IT also
2. Lot of US consulting companies that pays tons of tax to the government will close.
3.US govt lose their income significantly as tax paying IT professionals return home
4.Microsoft will close the doors finally
5.Indian IT companies will lose their profits dearly and will explore other markets aggressively.
6. More unemployment in IT sector in India as many IT professionals may return home.
7. Real Estate goes down in some cities in India as returned professionals will not be able to buy or maintain their investments.
8.More Desi Canadians may go to US to work

US tech giants will need to shutdown as business can not function without steady workforce. Same with IIT grads with US MS working in US Pharma companies.
