...Moreover this was getting discussed at high level there was arrest warrant issued over the maid in India. But attorney thought of creating dramatic escape of maid's family similar to Argo style. Why? India is not enemy country. Even after the Snowden revelations of hacking, etc India did not protest...

When arrest warrant for the maid was issued in India there was no one present from the maid's side to represent her.

Looks like Preet Bahara wanted to make it a watertight case, so flew Sangeeta's family to USA. In India, Sangeeta's husband Philip was already intimated by local police and Devyani's father that he would be framed in a drug possession case according to this article http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?288935

Bas kya Raj bhai..look at the first comment from Satyamev_jayate...when did the police approach the driver..? After the blackmail call..after her arrest warrant.
Look I am not denying that Indian employers exploit employees...but this is a clear cut fabricated case...and this stuff happens in India quite a lot as well..a servant/maid falsely claiming to be victim and get sympathy.
If the lady was really given slave like treatement, then agreed...just because DK is IFSS officer and her dad did have poor track record does not mean she is evil. They caught her off guard.
Not sure if you own a small businees like Subway, just think of a case. Your trusted employee who also is your distance relative..you bring him here, provide him visa, food, education etc in leu of little less salary. Also because of relationship, you pay to his family in India which is not on record. This happens quite a lot if you visit any Subway. But in Subway the employees are unanimously happy and loyal to the employer (to you). Sometimes you ask them to do the double shift because of other issues.
Now one fine day you are having your dinner, and CRA, immigration canada shows up at your door with cops, they hand cuff you and do all the nasty stuff..just to find out that this employee of yours collected huge evidence over the past few months handed it over to these agencies who in turn collected additional evidence and there you are in jail all naked, hungry and without family...not sure of what hit you. Here you broke the law, on the record, you underpaid the employee, made him work double shift etc, etc. but typically you end up paying fine and given a chance to defend.
Additional evidence can easily be collected if the employee was approached by CRA agent within first month of landing and assured him to get him settled and bring family if the evidence was collected over 6 months.
Here the whole intent of the case was to punish DK. and once you decide to make someone criminal it does not take much to create evidence. Everyone breaks laws like speeding 10 kms over the posted limit, etc.
What was portrayed here as if the maid was beaten, starved and left with no food and clothes. Everyone has aspiration for better life, but at the cost of someone else's life..? come on.

Why was the arrest warrant issued against the maid? It is because nobody was present in Indian courts to represent her and lawyers representing MEA did not reveal all the facts of the case.

As for Subway and stuff, if the employee can prove owner did not pay for the work done and owner has no proof of payment, unfortunately law is not going to take owner's side.

If Devyani had not done anything wrong, she should have stood the trial, why did she enter the plea bargaining with Preet Bahara? Why Indian government will not waive the immunity and let her face the trial? Preet Bahara's office and Devyani were about to reach a deal in plea bargaining but Indian government did not agree to it because they were not ready to drop the charges but were ready to waive off the jail term only. Indian government in a face facing move brought Devyani back and they can blame the maid and US for everything that happened.

All moves toward resolution following a diplomatic spat is a well choreographed act among the countries that are impacted. This case is no exception. Each country feeds the hype and excitement to its media and population in order to boost their own ratings, while in the backdrop, they agree to disagree and follow certain well-planned moves.

For the US, it makes no sense to escalate beyond what the situation is right now since there are far more serious issues of security threats from other countries. For India, it makes no sense to escalate beyond removing certain privelages and barricades in a show of defiance since any further security risk to the embassies could prompt US to shut down the consulates/embassies to consular applicants (aka Indian citizens).

For these kind of diplomatic spats, one has to look no more beyond relatively recent history, a major one being the Cuban missile crisis. Declassified archives indicate that both the Soviet Premier and JFK did not want any war and were making every attempt to communicate the same to each other. But, overtly, they had to escalate and keep the world sweating, so that they could protect their egos.

Just look at the very recent spat - NSA's spying of other countries. Does anyone think that Brazil, Germany or Israel did not know that USA was spying on them until Snowden revealed it? But they all had to make a public statement about it in order to show their strength to their own public.

Yeah with these big people's big ambitions and big plans, family's life gets destroyed...but who cares? And then there are folks who never broke the rules in their entire life to say that "you broke the rule so you should be ready for punishment".

In the case of USA snooping in India, our own External Affairs Ministry spoke on behalf of USA by stating that it was "Computer Analysis of Telephone Numbers" and not snooping.

Our own people are primarily concerned about their wards studying or working in USA. Their response is muted.

Father of the Diplomat is trying to cash the publicity and shows his intention to coming into politics. Trying with Congress and BSP. This guy has a tainted past and court has restrained his powers due to his controversial decisions.

2 Books actually , authored separately by DK and by the maid.

Now the question is who will have the last laugh ?
DK ? the Maid ? her husband ? her lawyer ? US ? India ?
