TK you could enjoy the company of fit white ladies (I have them around all the time and it is great fun) AND have a savings plan! These two things are not mutually exclusive. Can you really have a serious savings plans in India with their meager pay scales? TK is in Madras and i bet you enjoy best sambar anywhere! Aside from food, I can't think of much that you can enjoy in India. Women there seem to be in much more danger than here when it comes to rape and other crimes.
GI,
Actually my salary in India is not meager to say the least. I get almost the same salary as my last drawn salary in Canada and it is paid in Indian Rupees. My expenses are now lower by 50-90% than what it was in Canada and hence the saving potential is high.

As of today, Canadian citizens can live as long as they want outside Canada and still retain their citizenship. But in the future, I am sure that the Govt. will bring in legislation to restrict it. So we will see on that day.

In Canada, I could not even afford a life insurance plan. In India, I have a 50 lakhs life insurance plan, valid for the next 19 years with an insurance premium of Rs 19000 a year (as mentioned by me in an earlier thread).
You may not belive it but in the place of India that I live in, even in Govt. hospital, there is no queue to see the doctor. ECG is Rs 10. Lab test is as per market rates. So I need not fear for healthcare in the city that I live in. However, sometimes, I go to the best hospital in my city as I can claim it / have health card.
Gone is the day when I will have to wait for 8 hours in the emergency room or if I call the doctor at 4:55 pm for emergency, he instructing me to go to the emergency.

Looks like India is very different than what i was expecting from my vague perceptions; Last year I became an OCI so maybe it is time to put the visa to use. I am heading to India sometime during summer for one month. I will try to see what life is like in reality. But you seem to be doing very good. The change of place has done you good. So far I did not need any serious medical help. But when i was down with grippe, I went to emergency (no family doc, can't have one and mostly never needed one), they did make me wait the whole day before scribbling some broad spectrum antibiotics. I was so tired of waiting, I just snoozed in the wait room till the nurse woke me up! LOL But I can see the dangers of such situation if your medical condition is serious. Unfortunately, Canada vehemently fights any intrusion by way of demanding to know exactly how many ppl die because of wait period, and how often do medical situations grow worse due to wait or poor treatment.
