Hi ,
My parents would be traveling to Toronto on Lufthansa through Frankfurt coming May.
They have a 6.5 hour lay over . Arrival & departure are at the same terminal.
If some one is familiar with the Airport , please advise if any lounges / comfort areas are available for economy class passengers .
Likewise any other notable points about the Airport / things of interest / things to be taken care of .. are also welcome .

Frankfurt airport is large with many gates and one could easily get lost. If in doubt always stop to ask at the nearest "i" counter. Staff is helpful.
There are unmanned trains(no driver) connecting from one terminal to other. No need to be nervous about them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haahZKWrT5Q
The airport has counters with "i" signs, some are unmanned with touchscreen terminals but there are staff in other booths. http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/content/frankfurt_airport/en/services_at_the_airport/information_counters.html
Food is expensive, better to get some dry food from India esp if you are vegetarian. There is a McDonald's at the airport.
Immigration has stern looking and businesslike people.
There are smoking zones in waiting areas in some gates/lounges. http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/content/frankfurt_airport/en/transfer/create-your-stay/empfohlen-ab-2-std/raucherlounge.search.html
Washrooms are clean and the airport is well maintained.
On a few occasions I transited through Frankfurt, the gate number for my flight changed a couple of hours before departure. So keep looking every hour or so at the arrivals/departure screen.

It would be advisable to carry dry food. Since they would be in-transit at Frankfurt, they won't have to go through customs. The only thing you'd have to worry about is Indian customs, and I don't think they'd object to carrying food.
