I disagree completely...what they are doing is moving the bar on what is considered sex education.
sex education started with identifying the sexual organs, their functions, the foetus development process etc.
this is taught between grades 5 and 6 which is perhaps okay
then comes the conception and the act of conception itself.
this is taught around grades 7 and 8 which is probably alright too.

but where does it go from there...who is setting the mandate for what comes next in the name of sex education.
where does it say that we need to "teach" homosexuality to 11 year olds?
where does it say that we need to "teach" other types of sexual activity such as oral sex, anal sex etc. to 11 year olds?

pray tell me what is next? BDSM? S&M?
what next? asphyxiatia and caning?

perhaps we should hire Mr. Jian Ghomeshi as the Head of the Sex Education Department. He will do a great job I am sure.

the curriculum is being changed constantly.
they are moving the goalposts of what is considered "sex education".

it is ironic that the province of ontario is still teaching math and science in the same manner as 15 years ago.
Ontario's grades in math and science are falling.
it is highly ironic that while Ontario's math performance is falling, they are spending so much time revamping the sex education curriculum.
how about revamp the math, grammar, and science curriculums instead, and leave sex education to the parents.

you are completely under the thumb of these stupid moronic bureaucrats that are running our Ministry of Education and school boards.
You do not understand that they are no different than you or I.
They have no extra qualifications, let alone any special qualifiactions or training for sex education.
they are no more than paper pushing bureaucrats...they have no special skills or judgment to make any of these decision.

you are missing the fact that they are completely under the thumbs of their political masters (the present governmeent) who in turn are being controlled by the two main lobby groups...the LGBT and the teachers unions (ETFO, ECE, etc).

Quote:
It is a matter of time before gay and lesbian topics are incorporated in sex education curriculum, it will not matter if it is a liberals or conservatives in power. This is the reality in Canada, you like it or not .......

we are being directed.
the government is taking a bigger and bigger role in our personal lives and we are allowing them to.
i agree that this is regardless of political party.
although to be fair in 2011 the PC party opposed the Dalton McGuinty change to the curriculum.
that is why it was shelved.
now that the PC party has been crushed in the elections and are without a leader, the LGBT lobby has taken this opportunity to re-introduce the changes to the curriculum.
don't you see how opportunistic this timing is?

here is a sample of what i was referring to in the post above:

Ontario students slipping in math scores
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/education/ontario-students-slipping-in-math-scores/article20217896/

teachers should focus on this stuff, not all this sex education.
message to teachers should be : first do the job that you are paid to do.
stop crossing your boundaries.
you are paid public servants, paid to teach academics. stay within your limits.

people need to be aware of what is being done...how we are being directed, and the minds of our young children poisoned with all this crap.

i haven't seen the curriculum published anywhere, just references to it on various sites.
it seems some people have seen the curriculum but it hasn't been circulated publicly.
will appreciate a link.

so the final curriculum is being released today.
it is shocking to say the least.
homosexual relations will be introduced in Grade 1
Masturbation in Grade 1
Oral Sex & Anal Sex in Grade 6, and so on.

clearly an agenda of sexualizing children.

anyway...my question is what are you concerned parents planning to do about this?
I considered putting my kids in Catholic School but it is not easy since all Catholic Schools are already over crowded with long waiting lists.

it seems individual schools will have some discretion in teaching the curriculum however most of the southern ontario school boards are towing the party line. They are managed by hardcore ultra progressives, most of them appointed by McWynne & her cabal.

has anyone here thought of any options or are most of your unconcered?

Turn into a catholic and receive the holy sacrement.
You will automatically be eligible to put your ward in Catholic school. They will welcome you with open hands. No waiting list and all.

Other option is to leave the province.

Final option is to stay put and enjoy in Ontario.

All the very best.

I do not know what exactly you mean by saying " sexualizing children" .... but it is necessary for the children to have sexual orientation / understanding in a formal way ... rather learning these things and experiment from other widely available sources. But the difficult questions are always "how to educate, how much to educate and how much dose at what age .... and the answers are always debatable. You get different answers from different segments mainly affected by religious, social, ethnic backgrounds. Let us see ....
