Please chk with Home Depot befre u do any renovation. Their contractors are best. Thy deliver quality within ur budget. u may find their price 200-300$ more but aftrsales services is good and ur money is safe + u can pay in installments. (6 months).

Just checked with my neighbour, he did it frm Home Depot $5000. best singles warranty 35 yrs. Payment in installments 2 yrs.

Just Feedback:

I did my roof with Imperial Roofing company and got amazing price and services from them.

my personal experience with Home depot (Dundas and Mavis) Mississauga:

I went three times to HD to get a quote and price...every time they told me that one of our contractor will contact you but nobody contacted us.

One of the HD contractor called me (after one and half month) that time we already replaced our roof with other.

over the phone he asked me "do you want to change the roof shingles and he quoted me over the phone even without checking for 4 townhouse around $23,000 + taxes." same job we did with Imperial roofing with 25 years warranty good shingles around $12,000.

I believe HD is not interesting to do a small jobs. (4 townhouse in a row)...

regards

HD just gives contract to a local contractor in your area and they ( HD ) just charge their 25 - 30 % markup on top of it.

you can get these contractors on your own without going through HD..just like any other contractor they are a hit or miss. The ones from HD are not any better or worse than some guy you find in Yellow Pages or Kijiji :(

they are all the same..and if you are lucky, you will find a good one or a bad one if you are unlucky :(

4 houses for $ 12,000 is cheap !!..or is it $ 12,000 per town house ?

How much sq ft was each house ? ..or your house for that matter ? I think IKO shingles ..I believe they are called architectural shingles those are the best

I think they charge per square i.e 100 sq ft for roofs.

That is true. But the only saving part would be, you will have HD at frontend so that you can create an issue easily if there is a problem and HD needs to address the same ... whereas if we have taken a contractor who has no verifiable address etc., our money is gone.

Hence reference is one important thing we should consider ... and most important thing when we hire people from yellow pages or kijiji is .... we should should pay only small amounts to them every time as we go ... and we need to supply the material.

My 2 cents - either you pick a local known, verified contractor who do the job himself with few employees or go with a known and reputed company who can stand behind the work.

Home Depot - Sucks , especially their contractor are too pricy ... stay away from it.

Shingle roof are easy to do and any experience contractor can do the job - there are many with good connection on roofing supplies where you can get better material with reasonable price

Flatt roofs are tough - you need to be careful to chose contractor
