There is another very important cash job you can do in Canada, and we should tell all immigrants about it.

Its extensively advertised in FREE newspapers like Metro , 24 hrs etc.

Guess what it is ? Clinical Medical Drugs Trial

CRO & generic drug manufacturing Companies like Apotex, BioVail etc test their generic drugs on you and take blood samples from you in return.

Basically they give you a pill & you are a human guinea pig in there..they also give you FREE food & accommodation, while you are there. Then you get compensated for your TIME and BLOOD ..literally every 20 mins or so they take blood samples from you

The pay is decent lot of desis & students are doing that..so in addition to Welfare, Food banks , Gurudwara free Langar aka food , this is a good source of income.

All the side effects & complications from the new dugs they test on you are yours to keep..no one will take them back from you.

The best thing is NO Canadian experience or education is required for these drug trials, as the blood samples they take from everyone are the same colour ..RED !..Canadian or otherwise.

I am back to respond to your question.

I am fine with volunteering and co op as long as it fulfills the desire of the person who is opting for it and it conforms to society's norms.

What is acceptable is :
1. I am a bank official not getting a job in Canada. I am fine if I am allowed to enter the Canadian big 5 banks and be a assistant to the manager. I will assist the manager in his tasks and this way I know how Canadian system works. I would expect the manager to be my reference once I finish

2. Any work place that takes up a similarly qualified person and lets him see how Canadian work place works while extracting work from the person is fine.

What is not acceptable is this :

1. Companies looking for free help (for typing, manual labour) in the name of volunteering. These companies change people every 3 months to avoid being sued

2. Companies offering commission based fee. When a Canadian identifies a job oppertunity, he just recruits some gullible desi to do telemarketing, fixing appointments, follow up with Candidates (all at his/ her expense and time) for no fixed money. Commission given only when the candidate is placed and works for more than 1 month is a strict No No. I am aware that the owner also get the money once in a blue moon but them the owner practically does nothing and concentrates his time in a 9-5 full time job leaving the desi ladies to do all the dirty works.

3. Companies swindling money from new comers in the name of giving reference, english lessons, resume writing, interview preparation etc.. when most of this is being offered by the Govt. of Canada for free.

4. People from Primerica / Quikstar getting your phone number from Workopolis and calling you for work for commission. Actually they should be handed over to the police.

I am shocked the way human brain work in wrong way just to come and stay abroad. we are better off in our home country than doing such rubbish abroad.

Yes. Yes. You can accomodate a pakistani in your basement (without a formal lease and for cash payements) and then take him to court / block his internet access when he refuses to leave your basement. You can do all sorts of things for money but when it comes to another person who wants to eat from the food bank or earn money from clinical trials, you will say that it is all rubbish.

Did you report the money that you took from the Pakisthani in your tax return?

But Karma will not leave you. Whatever wrong you have done (if any) Karma will be fullfilled.

It reminds me of people who see the speck for dirt in other peope's eye when they have a log of dirt in their own eye. Fools. Remove the log of dirt from your own eye and you will be able to see more clearly to remove the speck of dirt from other people's eye.

Sorry to be harsh. But some people donot learn unless forced to.

In that, I helped Mary who is 26 yrs old girl. ofcourse her sister lied to get her social assistance form signed that, she is slow in her work but when she came to stay with me, within 10 days, I found the girl was depressed and tried to kill herself 100 times so, I called her sister and told her, I cannot babysit her sister and if she wanted the forms signed, honesty would have worked better and I would hv signed form and she could hv saved money and pain of moving and drama. Mary was not capable of cooking and dependent on food bank tin food and microwave. Her family didn't teach her about cooking on stove for her own safety. This is why I don't like TK writing and encouraging people to go to food bank

very sad story indeed. But it does not have much to do with food banks. It has something to do with being poor and not being fully helped by the govt.. I am sure that shelter will be providing her with safety and food.

Just come to TN and see how many poor people are there. Just visit Bus stands, Railway stations etc.. Lot of poor people. I make it a point to help them whenever I see them.

Food banks in Canada are over supplied. We desi's are cheated when we come to Canada. We are (soft) promised a great future and what d owe have. I had saved 3.6 lakh of Indian rupees by working in Saudi for 30 months and came to Canada and spent 2.5 lakhs (in 2002) in 6 months looking for a job. Who will compensate my money?

That is why I advise that, if you need to conserve cash, please take 'thinking out of the box' sessions to conserve money.
