Hi,
I am a canadian citizen currently residing in Ottawa, Ontario. I am getting married in April 2015 and want to sponsor my wife to come here as soon as possible. What is my best option to bring her , Inland or Outland application? I was thinking following:
- Inland application:
Tell her to apply for visitor visa before marriage (as after marriage, visitor visa will most likely be rejected) and then bring her here and then apply for Inland application from here itself. Now, after little bit of research I saw that there are some risks in processing like e.g she has to stay in Canada throughout the application process and if she travels outside canada by any chance and is not allowed to enter again the whole application will be cancelled. Longer PR processing time and little bit less flexibility. Also, there is no right to appeal if anything wrong happens. On the other hand, the advantage is that she will be with me and she can also get open work permit within 4 months as per the new pilot program started by CIC. Although, you may have to keep extending your status till you get PR.
Outland Application:
No potential risks seen as long as your application is fully complete. Usually used by people who have their spouses outside Canada and need atleast visitor visa to come to canada. Based on recent applications, the processing time for most average applications looks to be between 5-9 months for new delhi, India although the CIC website specifies much longer processing time. The only risk in this application is that it may take more time than average as mentioned above.
I would like to go for Outland application if it takes less than 7- 8 months. Based on recent statistics, it seems that it should be fine but I wanted to know opinions/suggestions from the people on which is best suitable based on their experience on Inland vs Outland application for PR spouse sponsorship.
Awaiting Feedback/reply related to this. Any suggestions would be very useful.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Vinod

Outland is faster almost always.
You can always visit India for a short visit , while the application is being processed . Usually it takes 6 months.
Or you can visit her in some other country like US or even Europe , if she comes there as a tourist..not hard to get tourist visas thesdays for these countries, especially if you do some group tours like SOTC etc.
But the chances of her getting a tourist visa to Canada, once the PR application starts are almost NIL.
If she comes here before that on a tourist visa its OK , but then they will suspect your marriage for being fake etc, when you do the PR spousal sponsorhip application. These guys don't care about what happens to your personal life.
I would prefer the Outland Application option on any day of my life for the following reasons
(a) you want to make it right - Believe me you don't want to take shortcuts with this one. Once you mess up this application with a little bit of doubt, they will screw you with your family like anything. I have heard so many horror stories regarding spouse application being delayed over due to moronic decisions made by applicants...
(b) you have to do this once in your life - why not do it legal way ??? This makes them & you & everybody happy... There is a specific guidelines with what they want us to follow
& the most important one
(c) what's the hurry ?? - After being married for almost 12 years, now whenever I meet or hear somebody getting married, this point always comes to my mind. I know you mentioned that you are getting married in April, but still you can wait for another 10-12 months to actually start a married life (living together FORrrrEVERrrrr-notice the caps) until the application gets processed. After then you are anyways finished.... Believe me you will come to this page & read my advice after 10-12 years of your marriage & think deeply about this :-}
Good luck & keep us posted...

+1 to iRock.
Out of Canada applications are processed faster than inland applications.
