As per the CIC website:
Warning: If you leave Canada before permanent residence is approved there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to return or re-enter Canada. This is especially true if you require a visitor visa. Your application may be refused or delayed if you no longer have temporary resident status to qualify as a member of the Spouse or Common-law partner in Canada class.

My question is:
I have VALID TOURIST VISA until Aug end 2010. I have a wedding in Australia in July (I plan to go from July 22 - Aug 5). I intend to apply inland(although it takes more time, we can stay together). I am assuming I will be still in Stage 1 of application (I still have to get FBI clearance from US, so definitely Stage 2 cannot start).
Could I still have problems??
Thanks
It only takes 'an' officer at the P.O.E. to screw any one's plan.
Also remember that Visa is a Privilege and not a right. Here is some thing more to read and understand.:
""Your responsibility
It is your responsibility to ensure that your temporary resident status remains valid until you receive permanent resident status. When you leave Canada, you relinquish your temporary resident status and may not be able to return to Canada.""
It is ambiguous, so don't take a chance. But it also states clearly, when you leave Canada.... "They could consider that you abandoned your current status {(Relinquish(ed)} and left Canada for GOOD".
If that is so, then you will be back to square one. Nil Nada and Nothing. So, hang in there till it ALL comes through.
If one person from a family attends a marriage, would they consider that your side of the family has been represented? If so, let ONE person go and attend and do the honours. The others will have to hold the fort till you come back. Tell them to bear with the situation.
Thank the guy in the sky that you are a Canadian Citizen. Otherwise that could have also triggered another abandonment.
Freddie.
Freddie is right ( as Always)
Dont take any chance with CIC, it is very crucial steps in life,,,
