General Pay Check In Canada :

1. Usually you get a Bi-Weekly pay cheque in Canada by Direct Deposit. India usually its monthly

Say every Wed,Thu or Fri or something like that every 2 weeks, always on the same day Wed,Thu or Fri or whatever the day maybe.

2. Generally there are 3 major deductions from your Bi-Weekly Pay cheque :

A. Income Tax - IT - ( Both Federal & Provincial ) .

B. 4.95 % CPP - Canada Pension Plan similar to Provident Fund In India.

C. 1.9 % EI - Employment Insurance. ( You get laid off, EI will give you something IF you qualify )

3. Medical Benefits like Prescription Drugs , Dental services, Eye Care etc are NOT covered by the Free healthcare in Canada. So some employer's provide these benefits ( NOT all ) and generally only for Full Time employees and not for Part Time employees.

You have to pay a part of it & employer pays the remaining. So if you take these benefits, you will also see a DEDUCTION for that in addition to IT, CPP & EI . They are usually NOT mandatory and you can OPT out of them or cancel them later on if you want. But most people take them, as your spouse & kids are also covered in most cases under them
