Yes, this is the comparison I was talking about.
Another thing to note, high-rise apartments aren't that expensive in Van, if you don't plan to buy.

Correct me if I am wrong FP ...

Yes, to some extent. But, it doesn't rain everyday, all the time, and not a downpour as well but drizzles. You can go for walks outside comfortably, of-course with your Jacket hood on.

Edit:
If you compare Vancouver weather with Melbourne, Australia then here's the outcome:

Avg Rainy Days in Melbourne: 150
Avg. Rainy days in Vancouver: 165

Total of mean monthly sunshine hours in Melbourne: 2,190.8
Total of mean monthly sunshine hours in Vancouver: 1,937.5

So, we are not far off from Melbourne, Australia's awesome weather. :).

OP ~ Why do you say that there are more parks there in Aus as compared to Canada ? Just curious as I thought we had more than fair share of green areas here as well.

Yes, I didn't understand that as well. Either OP must had been living in a place with no parks, or didn't know where to look. As far as I know Toronto has full of them. All the places that I lived at so far have it in abundance.

Please bear in mind that you are comparing wettest/coldest major city in Australia(Hobart is excluded) with the warmest major city in Canada. Even then, look at average monthly high temp and average monthly rainfall:

Average High Temperature:

Mon-- Van -- Mel
Jan -- 6.9 -- 25.9
Feb -- 8.2-- 25.8
Mar -- 10.3-- 23.9
Apr -- 13.2-- 20.3
May-- 16.7-- 16.7
Jun-- 19.6-- 14.1
Jul-- 22.2-- 13.5
Aug-- 22.2-- 15.0
Sep-- 18.9-- 17.3
Oct-- 13.5-- 19.7
Nov-- 9.2-- 22.0
Dec-- 6.3-- 24.2

We don't even have to list the low temps as Vancouver will be way colder than Melbourne.

Average Rainfall (Monthly):
Mon -- Van -- Mel
Jan (6.201) (1.843)
Feb (3.894) (1.89)
Mar (4.402) (1.972)
Apr (3.469) (2.256)
May (2.559) (2.193)
Jun (2.118) (1.949)
Jul (1.402) (1.87)
Aug (1.445) (1.969)
Sep (2.004) (2.283)
Oct (4.752) (2.598)
Nov (7.315) (2.374)
Dec (5.839) (2.323)

Total (45.386) (25.524)

You don't like Melbourne? You can move to most other cities in Australia which are warmer. Can't do the same in Canada. But then there is the US option.

However, the job situation in Australia sucks, and it is supposedly worse than Canada, especially when it comes to most white collar jobs.

Why do you say that? Some of my friends that moved there found the better paying jobs in their fields in a rather less time than Canada. Unfortunately, that is the only source I have.
