This is interesting and could impact many of us having travel plans and flights via US.

Quote:

Passengers flying to the United States from 10 airports will be allowed only cellphones and smartphones in the passenger cabins, senior Trump administration officials said. Larger electronic items must be checked.

The electronics ban affects flights from international airports in Amman, Jordan; Kuwait City, Kuwait; Cairo; Istanbul; Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Casablanca, Morocco; Doha, Qatar; and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. About 50 flights a day, all on foreign carriers, will be impacted. The officials said no U.S.-based airlines have nonstop flights from those cities to the United States

The only option is to check-in your laptop and that could mean damaging your laptop.

In as much as it'll be a pain, it only affects direct flights from those countries. For now it's only the foreign airlines that have direct flights on those routes. None of the American airlines have direct flights.

I don't think it'll be an issue for flights originating in the USA.

A very disturbing trend : openly discriminatory policies are being framed and implemented at the whims and fancies of select few decision makers with no recourse to those affected. Going from a time when even profiling was fumed at, new policies give a damn about equality and fair treatment. Can't complain because that's what the voters wanted, so we have to assume that the country supports such measures.

As far as I recall most flight incidents in the past were due to complicity of human security at airports. Strict measures and laws are only as effective as those who implement them.

These random actions create major confusions and irritations at airports worldwide and inconvenience to the flyers. I assume the next step will be that only citizens born in the US will be allowed to carry large electronics in the cabin, including fire arms because that's their right...

Waiting...

Hiren
