Hello CDs,
I'm planning to get my parents here for 6 months on a Visitor visa. They do have many health issues. What options are the best for their Health/Medical Insurance & how much would it cost approximately.
Thanks!
Determine Their Eligibility.. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa-who.asp
Then.. Look for travel and other Insurance.
There are a few of the Major Companies that run and conduct Super Visa Insurance for us here within Canada. The minimum dollar value of the policy, I believe is, $100,000.00. Here is one and you can fill in and send it to them and see what kind of response you receive from them. Please make sure that the policy covers ALL of their Pre-Existing Conditions that they have. (in their health. Do not give them a chance for refusal) It MUST COVER everything.
Good Luck.
FH.

Getting medical insurance from a Canadian/American company over here is better, than getting one from an Indian company like ICICI, TATA AIG etc . As making claims, reimbursement etc will be easier, if God forbid something happens here.
Blue Cross - I heard is a good one. Also check out Manulife, RBC Insurance etc.
Almost none of them will cover any pre-existing conditions, or they will only cover them if they have been stable for a long long time with medications etc. So watch out for the PRE-EXISTING conditions clause..and what's covered and what's not.
Whatever you do, do not lie on the policy to get a low premium. The insurance companies will find every excuse to not pay and will go through your past medical records to find previous medical history, medical treatment, medical conditions etc. Then say you lied and use that as an excuse to not pay.
Truthfully and honestly answer each and every question. Even sit with a doctor to fill up the medical questions if you are unsure about what to put down, before buying that policy.
Create a fake name and fake email, then put your parent's details and get a free insurance quote online from various companies like RBC Insurance, Manulife , Blue Cross etc , to get a rough estimate.
Then later on with a real name of your parents, buy the one which you think is the best and most comprehensive.
Canada is a dull, boring, low level country - your parents will be bored to hell, when they come here. You and your husband will go to work, and they will be bored at home.
Right now they think Canada is a high level country, let them remain in that myth. After coming here they will realise that Bangalore is much better than Toronto, and you had a better life back home than over here. They will get sad and depressed, when they see that. So its better they don't see that.
The only good thing is that, they will get to meet you, otherwise everything else will be a waste of time for them in Canada. Better you go to Bangalore and meet them. You will get a break from this shit hole called Canada. And meet your close family and friends at the same time.
After getting your Citizenship and Cad Passport, both of you should move back to India to take care of your ageing parents. Taking care of Your parents and spending time with them is more important than this dung hole called Canada. Your parents raised you, not Canada.
Abandon Canada, NOT your parents. Right now you are young, after getting older you will realise, what a big mistake Canada was.

I'll be applying for a Visitor visa, not the super visa.
