Regarding severing residential ties for tax purposes with Canada: in order to do this, you need to close all your bank accounts in Canada, return the health card and driver's license, STOP earning any money whatsoever; these are major issues but there could be others that I am forgetting. In any case, you would know what exactly are the requirements once you start filling out the CRA exit forms.
If you hold investments and or have pensions, you can never delare non-residency for tax, since you MUST file returns to report what you earned and pay up. In case of pensions, they will withhold expected tax, which in fact is usually more than owed, at source so you need to file CRA returns to CLAIM the excess.
Does anyone know how you can STOP paying even a dime to Indian Tax scum if you have a pension from Canada but are living in India for longer than 180 days a year? If you have no income in India, and are simply hanging loose there for food and climate, is it possible to flip the bird to Indian Tax Hogs, while regularly filing CRA taxes? I haven't seen anyone in this situation. However, if someone is out there with info, it is greatly appreciated.
I don't mind paying taxes in Canada since all pensions and wealth was accumulated while living and working here, but tremendously resent paying even a dime to Indian corrupt scum.
