I would like to know from all CDs settled in Canada, as to whether proficiency in second language, i.e FRENCH helps u in any way, in terms of jobs / better career prospects e.t.c.

No doubt. Helps a lot. Makes easy for jobs on the Quebec side too. Bilingual is a great asset. If you have a chance to learn French, then go for it.

If you can speak some sentences that would be good. Just enough to communicate, to show that you have the background and the skill for the job and you are willing to learn the language further. Writing small sentences would also help.

If in quebec defnitely french. Toronto you can still do without unless your are targetting Govt. jobs and that too not much of fluency required.
