Depends what you are looking for. If you know French and are looking for a customer service representative (csr) job it might get you a few dollars per hour on the unilingual person. At the intermediate and higher level, at least in TO, not so much in most professions. There might be some where it makes a difference
People from Mauritius who come and know French and start off at the csr level get upto $5 an hour more than a unilingual, but once they pass that stage and get to the intermediate management level, they say the difference is very slight maybe $1 more an hour or so.
Again, there are some professions where more French is needed and there even at intermediate and high levels you may get significant on money.
Those from Mauritius who are lucky enough to get a govt job cos of their powerful French have it made. One such person who came in October was able to score a $70,000 (considered excellent for a new immigrant) job with the govt w/in a couple of weeks after passing a strenuous written and oral exam in French.
