I have a similar question but an extension to the question, could anybody shed light on the free french training organized by CIC or other groups.

I got the information on following link.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/welcome/wel-22e.html

Some of them can be free and some of them could be paid. Anyone having experience with free classes organized by CIC?

If you are fully bilingual french, you surely have good market while hunting for customer service related jobs.
When you register with the temp agency, you will have to appear for written(grammer,spellings,etc..) and spoken french. Employer usually examines your spoken french during the interview.
If you are doing some Technical support jobs, you should be aware of technical terms in French. Usually, a bilingual french tech support agent would make $15-20/hr

Ekta, I am not sure within 4 months how you'll get fluency in French. Alliance francaise have french schools in quite a few indian cities and they are good at teaching spoken french.

Ekta
There is nothing better than knowledge of French in this country to get a good job in call centres initially
But thats useful only if you are planning to be on the phone with people, if not then no body needs french to work in factories.
To learn french in 4 months is a pipe dream. You wont know basic french even as it is extremly comlicated. I have to study 8 hours a day for 4 months here in order to barely being able to speak up. And that was a full time study with tonnes of homework.

I agree with CPM that it is difficult to learn French in 4 months. What 4 months, depending on the intensity, will do is introduce you to the rudimentary basics. However, it is better than nothing. I would advise you to enroll in the most intensive course and continue with further lessons once you land here. Bilingualism is an asset to have. May set you apart from other who are not and may also show employers (make a mention in your resume) that you are making an effort to learn new things and integrate yourself into the society.

Knowledge of french is better and not at all necessary to survive and get a normal job other than tech support and call center.

Even for tech support there are people with only english. But if you can, you should learn it, it will add one more bullet on your resume.
