I came across many parents who leave their Kids at India. For them it is a requirement as both husband and wife can work without worrying about baby sitting. Even they don't have to pay anything for baby sitting.

On top of that they will continue getting Child Tax Benefit.

I am always wondering how can one do this? If we are not here for our kids than for whom? How can you go after money like this?

Can anybody explain this?

I cannot live away from my kids either. Main reason was that I thought this would prevent kids from bonding with parents and establishing a close relationship. However, I know some people who did this and their boys(now grownup) are as loving and devoted to their parents as any kids can be. Talented musicians, helpful with all housework AND very good at studies too.

Will not work for me...its simply not an option

Different strokes for....

Hi,

I extremly support Gaurvo's think.

I give you one example of people mind:

I know one couple in my apartment, who both working in Factory and they had sent their two little kids (age 4 yr baby and 8 month boy) Inida with their parants so, they can work hard. I asked question why? He replied we dont trust on child care here. and we can not affort to keep child here with only one person earning. I believed. But just before some time Couple has purchased new brand VAN and two badroom Condo (cost 2,20,000 CAD). I now realise they are lie. They are only made this arrangement for their convinience and for ONLY MONEY. They are mad for MONEY and mad for bogus social status. Now they couple speaking to others that in Rented apartment people are Garbage so they moved to Condo and so why they sent their child India.

I just want to say how can you miss your child's childhood for just Money.
I challange people here that your kids/childern has no need of your money when they become major. There are two possibility :-

1. If your child will grow in Westener style as White then your money cant save them and if u give money then its useless and they use like water.

2) if your child will grow with our inidan custom and educate nice then they will not need your money. For study they can take Loan from Government. and they are not depend on parant's money. They think like this.

This is my personal thinking. I have one little baby boy and i care what he need instead of saving much money. I never bouthered about money of my parants and i hope my kids also think like me.

Regards,
KAP

I would prefer not to "judge" people based on their personal decisions. We all assume that people are in "sane mind" when taking decisions and would take what is best for them . What is right for them may not be right for us so lets save our judgements on people on their "love of money" or being good or bad parents .

my 2 cents

Agreed Smiley, I have seen mother (in Canada) crying when asking about her son/daughter who is in India.

So there must be something stronger than tears which forces them to keep their kids away. What is that? Money? Culture?

Let me ask the question the other way ..

Why did we come to Canada and leave our parents when they were getting old and needed us more than before . We would probably see more mothers crying in India for children in canada then the other way . round .We did not have a problem of money , career and most of us were doing fine . Then what makes us leave our land , our people , friends , parents and everything that we ever owned to come to a foreign land and start from nowhere and struggle and strive for existance while living in Isolation and budgeting and saving every dollar

Why we leave all our friends and aquaintances behind and look for friendship in strangers and neighbours in a foreign land

Any ideas..

Smiley, yeh Dhande ka maamla hai, apun ke choice ka maamla hai.
As someone, quite unabashedly pointed it.... yeh 1-to-ka-33 ka Maamla (i.e., 1$ = 33 INR for all ya folks who dont understand Hindi)...

Thats the plain simple reason !
