Hi canadiandesis,
What efforts are you making to make sure that your kids dont get disconnected from india altogether. Do you think its important to tell your kids where they come from, where the roots are or do you think doing this is a big hindrance in the kid getting integrated with the canadian society.
I ask this because I witnessed few canadian indian kids making fun of a 12 year old boy who had just arrived from india. I was aghast to see this. Talking to their parents I found out that these kids have never been to india.
These kids suffer from acute identity crisis and dont know where they belong.
So do you think here parents are to be blamed or they are justified in ignoring kids while they mint their moolah......

Hi Mr. Jsethi,
I feel, parents are responsible. because they are the one who show them the world from the begining. Kids are like flowers, slowly open up. They will take it what is given.
Just to give you an example, my close friend is in US since last 6/7 years now. His son is born in US. Now three times he came to india. Every time the little kid would enter my house with two hands in a "NAMASKAR MUDRA" saying "JAI SHRI KRISHNA" to every body. I very well remember when my friend went to Germany first (then he went to US) before his marriage he told me I would never forget indian values given my by parents. What he is doing now, is simply reciprocating, what was tought to him. Its kind of an extension of values.
So to conclude, its all parents, who irrigate the values (SANSKAR) in kids.
Regards,
Vj

ITs important to know about your own country/culture as well as other countries/cultures.
