Good discussion. Personally, I like "Such a Long journey" better. But, I have a feeling that he always try to critique Indira gandhi in most of his writings.
Dont know why..
Have any one tried reading M G Vassanji, an Indo african canadian writer ? (I love his books...The in-between world of Vikram Lall is a great book)

"The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be"
Yes he critisises Indira gandhi, congress and shiv Sena beacuse i think he has suffered a lot due to them when he was in Mumbai during his childhood and youth. all his books are autobigraphical. He has expirienced these things himself. And emergency during Indira was really bad. Our fathers tell us the details. Even shiv sena has done bad things. They have burned the JK singhania hospital in Thana and all old records of patients have been destroyed. One of my relatives needed his old operation record desperately.
Now i am reading Hero's walk by anita Rao badami . It is very interesting.
