Interesting post.
So here's a query. Every year 200,000 immigrants (all categories) how much $$$$ go into the economy?
As per the old rates :-
295000000 = (200000 * 1475).. lots of small changes eh ! more that 250 milllion $
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
I want to adjust my numbers, Canada requires 1% of 300 million existing population. That works out to a whopping 300,000 per year. The target has not yet been achieved - it hovers around 225K mark. So they did the best they could, that is lower the points to 67. That they are real DESPERATE for immigrants , is an understatement here.
So lets have it, will they be forced to recognize foreign credentials if the immigration levels fall to 150 K - half of the target ?
Will be interesting to note, how many of us desis are actually in a power position for interviewing and awarding jobs in their company. Do they also use the CEB (Canadian Experience Broom) or ignore it as not at all a pre-requisite?
How many of you have been turned down by an Indian Manager, because of CEB?
Please correct the figure. 1% of 300 millian is 3,000,000 (3 million) and i have doubt about population of Canada is 300 millian??

Kap
Canadian population is little over 30 million. That means the maximum immigration intake to be nearly 300,000. But the actual immigrants coming in are far below this number and last year there was further decline forcing the Govt. to drop the points to 67.

Man's Best Friend
Its actually very simple - each immigrant is supposed to bring in $12,000 for a family of two - for 300,000 immigrants/year this would work out to $3.6 billion - money which would be given to the canadian economy by the immigrants when they purchase goods and services....
Out of which, Jane Stewart and co. will "donate" $1 billion to the Liberal cronies
& Desi's (read immigrants) , like suckers, will vote Liberal back to power again

If Canada does not add at least 1% to its population every year most of the seniors would lose benefits and may die. Do not forget all seniors are diehard voters and no political party can afford to ignore their needs.

Real life incident:
About a year ago, when I was working in an insurance company's Call Centre, one evening I got a call from a ONTARIAN CANADIAN to get a quote on car insurance. After I gave him the quote, he started talking to me about the insurance in a casual way and since that was not the busy time, I also took some interest in the conversation But during the conversation, he asked me my name again even though I had already told him my name twice but since he was over 70 years of age, he kept forgetting it. The very next question after listening my name was: Which nationality are you? For a moment, I was like ??? but then I politely said Sir, I am from India. His que: are you located in India or you are an immigrant? Ans: Sir, I am an immigrant. His reaction to my answer: "Thats good! I alwyas thank Canadian Govt. for calling lots of immigrants to Canada every year. If you guys don't come, who is gonna pay for our Pension Plan. Anyway, it was good talking to you Sajeen. Bye" and then he hung up.
Just imagine: Yeh baat sun ke mera kya haal hua hoga??
