Thanks Desi_student for good analysis and true reason.

Only 10 % desi are doing well here and many of them are not have job satisfaction what they had in India. I see many CGA (indian CA) doing works like simple accountant doing in India.

We can not avoid the truth that Canada need skill labour. There is huge gap between jobs and job seekers and new immigrants are continiously coming ! Any indian CA who comes 3 or 4 years ago, get easily job in account field and now you see the situation and will see worst thing.

Only earning good money is not criteria / thinking of professional people.

good article.

God analysis of the American situation from 100- 150 years back.

that is exactly what is happening.

Yes, that it is. Even though I don't agree on all counts, the analogy may be true to a certain degree.

Worth mention that the Irish rule the country today via politics.

YOu mean, The Irish rule in USA or Canada???

USA. "Rule" was a deliberate exaggeration, but the Irish are known for their political clout in the states.

And to Kap, the money remark was made in context to the U.S. comparision. I do have job satisfaction and am quite happy here too, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

So where is the catch? Canada allows in 200,000 immigrants per year when there are no proper jobs available here . It cant be true that the Government is unaware of this , or is this a well

These numbers itself are misleading. Quota of 225,000 immigrants per year includes immigrants in all available categories i.e family class, independent class, business class and refugee class. Immigrants immigrate under family class and refugee class comes here with the intentions to do ANY job. Whereas immigrants under independent (90,000 only) and business categories come here with the intentions to work within their own field.

So if we are talking about problems we are talking about only 90, 000 immigrants not 225,000 immigrants. These 90,000 immigrants are well trained and well educated professionals. If you go by available statistics only 5-10 out of these 90, 000 people get jobs ( not necessarily well paid) in their own field. Everyone knows this and still if Government is encouraging immigration of professionals ….than I think we all know what are the intentions behind this well planned..????…..

Thanks and regards.

Hi Desi_Student,

It is absolutely right that Canada needs immigrants for its very survival otherwise why do you think they allow so many of us to come in. Not because they love us or they are proud of diversity but they have no other option.
If Canada does not add at least 1% to its population every year most of the seniors would lose benefits and may die. Do not forget all seniors are diehard voters and no political party can afford to ignore their needs. You got the point.
Having established that immigrants are needed let us now explore why so many are unhappy and are not satisfied with the job situation.
(1) Canadian economy is small and on an average creates about 300,000 jobs annually. This number does not reflect lay-offs and in fact includes rehires. So the actual jobs available are much lower than the official figure. The current immigration quota is much more than the actual number of jobs created. The unemployment rate is generally above 7%.
(2) Canadian economy is efficient and one side-effect of an efficient economy is that it cannot easily absorb jobs from inefficient economies. What I want to point out is that those who do not possess skill-sets easily transferable to the Canadian environment find hard to settle down. You can call it the so-called lack of Canadian experience.
(3) Though officially denied but discrimination does exist and makes a new resident feel unwanted.
Despite all the handicaps the 2002 survey revealed that Indians were the least poor among all the immigrants. This itself calls for celebration.
And do not forget it is much easier to operate your own business in Canada than in India. A large proportion of Indians do end up self-employed. I guess Canada is looking for immigrants who can create jobs and not who want jobs.
Guys, the stage is all yours.

I agree with Biomed, But the other 135,000 people who come here are also an issue. Many of them come here as dependents and become additional burden on the already small income. A lot of them have to start doing Jobs in old age, which are basically again low paying, hard jobs.

As per the old rates :-
295000000 = (200000 * 1475).. lots of small changes eh ! more that 250 milllion $ :D
