To my opinion and experience opportunities in HR are limited and you have to upgrade a lot. But in micro-bilogy there are ample scope. I personally know a few friends who came came with the same back ground and after couple of months got a job in their own field witha starting pay of Apprx $40-50000K. I would suggest you to pursue this career and you won't regreat for this.

Ottawa_Nerd....

Thank you for reiterating my point! :) As for reviving any old careers I think in the North American continent everyone has the benefit of doing what they like and what they really want to do however small that job may be, rather than do something because they have a degree. I have learnt that after being here for awhile. Everybody has to eventually adjust to the 'multicultural' society of Canada!
The point is ..be happy and live your life to the fullest......I mean thats why we came here right? ...for a better living.:jump3:

Yes we did come here. But tell me something, and pls be honest here :)
You cam here to give yourself and your family a better life. In other words 1$=34 INR was one of the main reasons why you came here ?
Now you were earning X$ in India (i.e., X * 34 INR) in India. Dont you want to earn at least more than X$ in Canada ?
In other words ( :) ), you came here looking for a better life, an equally satisfying if not better PAYINg job than you had in India ?
If thats the case, whats wrong in reviving your degree, that you may earned with hard work and dedication ?
I support adjustment in the multicultural society of Canada, but why should you (or any new skilled immigrant) be relegated to bottom of the ladder ?

hi grace:
i have had asthma since a young age but manage it quite well. toronto docs are good about it. one thing you may want to check on is cause of allergies fro your son...if pollen related, this city can be particularly poor in may. otherwise the docs and treatments here are great. hope this helps

O_Nerd.....

No I didnt migrate with a calculator (if thats what you mean!). $1=INR 34 was not at all on my mind when I took this decision. I came here because of the fact that whats luxury in India is a norm here. You can provide everything ( if you are financially savvy)to your family even if you work at the bottom of the ladder. There is no such thing as 'small job' here. Every hardworking person is respected here. And no, theres nothing wrong in reviving your old degree , just be wise enough to calculate the time and resources you wanna spend again on it...since there is no guarantee that you WILL find the job for which you paid and studied so hard again. Moreover, you dont HAVE to study again just to avoid being at the bottom of the ladder....have confidence in urself with or without a degree.
