hello, we are landed immigrants.we came to canada in 2001.(november).my son wants to go to india to study medicine.we have applied for p r card .we have not completed 2 years.i would like to know do we have to apply for r r pfor my son .will he be able to retun to canada when he finishes his studies.we have already booked tickets for june.should we wait for p r card call.please advise.thanks.

Your son should leave Canada after he has collected his PR card. He may strudy in India. He will not lose his resident status in Canada as long as he can show he has stayed in Canada for an aggregate of two years over the 5 years after Nov. 2001.
RRP is no longer issued.
