hi friends,
i am planning on taking SAP courses. Rite now i am in toronto(permanent resident).I am thinking of taking SAP training to get me a job here,as all other methods failed for me.can u please tell me which courses should i go for?...depending upon my background(comp sc. engg.-2003,India).
The training school ppl are telling me to go for ("BW"+"ABAP" at $4300.
But after going thru a bit of research I came to know that there's more demand in the "functional" area. So,should i go for "ABAP"?i'm pretty confused, any help would be appreciated. And are there good job prospects in this area.
Thanking you in advance,
harmeek
What is your work background? What other methods did you try to find job which failed?

hi anil,
i have worked for 6-7 months as a computer programmer (Java)for a software solutions firm in india.Thts it.I have no canadian exp.I've tried everythin from applyin online,to submittin my resume at monster.ca,workopolis.com etc, goin to the agencies, but all in vain.I didnt got one job offer. The only one's i got were from sales. So I thought might be after gettin a "SAP" or "Peoplesoft" certificate I can get a job in toronto and survive.can u help me now???
Getting training in SAP might not actually result in landing you with a job. In fact, it might be no use at all. Most companies look to hire people who have some experience under their belt. Before you lighten yourself by 4K, I would suggest you do some investigation and find out the success rate of those who have done the course from the institute that you are planning to attend.
No discouragement implied. Just a suggestion

HI Mick,
wisernow is right.
I suggest you ( as my background is technical consultant in Oracle ERP) that SAP is a ERP application and as programmer or developer in SAP, just learning SAP's programming is not enough to make your case stronger for getting job in Canada. You should have some functional background for any ERP application. They expect at least one implementation cycle experience as developer/programmer in SAP.
If you have JAVA background then try to upgrade with J2EE technology. there are good demands.
Best of luck.
