I''ve travelled Air Canada and haven't really had a problem. They certainly don't have the best looking stewardesses in town (most of them looked very old) but the service was ok.

Best airline I've travelled so far to India has to be Lufthansa. Great food, great service and everything was on schedule both ways.

I will try the direct flight though next time if its not overly expensive. I can live with service not being that great if I can save few hours.

And as far as I know, Air India does not have a direct flight to anywhere in India. I wonder why. That would just be the most ideal thing and they would grab so much traffic from other airlines if they did that. Just being complacent as usual, I guess.

I believe they cancelled their service after the bombing of Air India flight in 1985.

I've heard about this tragedy but reading the details is horrific.

In any case, Air India stopped flying out of Canada after this. Wonder if they're ever going to re-start.

I guess they could at least have direct flights out of U.S. I'mean if India's flagship airline does not start offering more convenience to the Indian public, who will? Plus its one of the most profitable routes in the world today.

I hope AC does not go on the way of Canada3000. Since, Canada3000 had booking for Tor - Delhi flights and they went bankrupt before they even start.

Don't think so. Never heard of it anyways.

I think they should have a NY - Mumbai direct flight though, would save a lot of people a lot of time. They also need to have more convenient take-off and landing schedules, right now you're stuck with leaving sometime in the evening and reaching India around mid-night.

We're in good shape here considering AC made this announcement a few months after filing for bankruptcy protection. On a more serious note, I don't think the Canadian govt. will allow it to shut down, that would have serious consequences on the country's transport infrastructure.
