Hi,
I appreciate previous replies on this forum.
We (myself and my wife) landed in Canada from USA as immigrant 18 months back. We stayed there few weeks and got our PR Cards, SIN Cards, opened the bank account and then we came back to USA. I also gave the list of goods to follow that time. I am working in Detroit, USA for past five years on H1B visa.
We have filed the US Green Card application which is in the State Labour Clearance Process, but we want to move to Windsor, ON so that we will not loose our PR status after a while.
I would appreciate your sincere advice in learning the following:
1. Would there be any problem in moving as I have no way to show that I was living in Canada, as I even did not file the taxes last year?
2. How can I take my commodities, like Sofa, Bed, TV and other household things from Detroit to Windsor? Can I just load all the stuff in the U-Haul and drive through the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel?
3. Would that affect my GC Process in USA?
4. Is there any chance that when I drive the U-Haul from tunnel, US Immigration Officer will collect our I-94 which I need it as I want to daily commute from Windsor to Detroit?
Please also suggest any DOs and DONTs.
Sincere replies are appreciated.
Thanks,
Anurag K

Quote:If you have been out of Canada only for 18 months, you have not lost your PR status, so you should be able to come back.

Quote:Sure, but be prepared to pay duty on those items.

Quote:Yes, your GC will be deemed as abandoned by BCIS.
3. Would that affect my GC Process in USA?
Quote:Normally, they don't take the I-94 when you drive.
