Friends,
Who win in the recent riots I don't know, but definately Gujarat has lost the battle.
Do you know what we are in India's economy? We are tigher! And even wounded tigher is mightiest, you cannot say that you will maintain your superiority if we go to communal violence like this.
Look at this:
Quote:
The state produces more than half the nation's petroleum products, in part because Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RLPT), India's largest private refiner, recently built a 540,000 barrel-a-day refinery, the world's largest greenfield oil refinery, there.
Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and Essar Oil -- all major energy companies -- also have major facilities in the state.
Gujarat produces about 45 percent of all the pharmaceuticals, a large share of Indian textiles and is home to one of the largest diamond cutting and polishing industries in the world.
All told Gujarat produces about a third of India's exports, much of which is shipped out through the state port of Kandla, the nation's busiest.
The stock exchange in the state's commercial hub, Ahmedabad, is the fifth largest and second oldest of India's 23 bourses.
Quote:
Economic activity in Gujarat has been badly affected the past two weeks as fighting between Muslim and Hindu mobs erupted in the cities and spread to small towns and rural areas, bringing transport to a halt at many key points around the state.
More than 1,000 trucks were burnt or damaged by mobs the past week, affecting the flow of traffic along economically vital National Highway 8, which runs between Delhi and Bombay.
Export-oriented industries such as textiles, dyes and chemicals have been among the worst affected as deliveries were disrupted to ports in Kandla and Bombay.
The hotel and hospitality industry has suffered the most, as business and leisure travellers flee the riot-torn state, leaving just one class of traveller to book rooms: journalists and photographers sent to record the carnage. (US$1 = 48.73 Indian rupees)
Altaf,
I agree with you. We can't achieve anything with such things - we will definately loose.
But as a whole - Gujaratis are peace loving people - the situation will become normal soon.

RisingIndia - India's Tryst With Destiny
On the eve of Independence, in 1947, Nehru spoke in eloquent terms of India's \"tryst with destiny.\" Today, we - as Indians - have still not completely fulfilled the responsibilities bequeathed us in that speech; \"poverty and ignorance, and disease and inequality of opportunity\" continue to afflict our people. We must all work - in our own little ways - to put an end to the suffering of our countrymen. Economic prosperity, progressive social mores, military strength - and the political will to use all of these advantages to good effect - will make India a great power; as it has been in centuries past.
Sare Jahan se achachha Hindustan hamara,...
Ghurbat men hon agar ham rehta hai dil watan men,
Samjho wahin hamen bhi dil ho jahan hamara!...
Mazhab nahin sikhata apas men bair rakhna
Hindi hain ham watan hai Hindustan hamara!
Yunan-o-misr-o-Roma sab mit gaye jahan se,
ab tak magar hai baqi nam-o-nishaan hamara!
Kuchh bat hai ki hasti mitthi nahin hamari,
sadiyon raha hai dushman daur-i-zaman hamara...

Some topics under discussion at the forum:
India's Foreign Relations -
(1) India's relations with its neighbours (territorial disputes, peace summits, economic ties etc).
(3) India's relations with non-South Asian countries (the nuclear tests, Sumdorong Chu, Tawang, Indo-U.S. military exercises, ASEAN, the E.U. etc).
Indian Domestic Issues -
(1) Secularism and communalism in India (Hindutva, Deobandi madrassas, the Shah Bano case, Ayodhya, the Gujarat carnage, Godhra, the 1984 Delhi riots, Gandhi, Jinnah etc).
(2) Federalism (center-state relations, the Cauvery issue etc).
Gujarat was peaceful and it will be peaceful. This is all media crying that it telling the world this non-sense. There might be some communal tensions in some part of Gujarat but that is not to say that entire gujarat is under battle.
This election comminsoner intentionally delayed the voting of Gujarat with the hope of Congress coming into power, but see how it failed?
The reporters all over the world came for Gujarat coverage and they found total voting peaceful -- so what the world is saying now?
Nothing! They even don't praise Gujarat for its peace! Shame of world media..

Hurat Honani Murat!
Dear friends,
Situation was not so bad but media, international situations and we have created a big issue. It will give fruits. Few may be good but lots of bad. This situation created not only by politicians or media, but also by us. Minority has never tried to prove their loyalty and majority has taken activities of minority as suspicious. Media and politicians have taken these benefits for making money.
So let forget ever things, become again good family and get new mile stones.
