This is indeed shameful, and unfortunate for the Asian community and the immigrant community in general.
The local American playboys do the same things with impunity and either do not get caught, or have an army of their rich Dad's lawyers to defend them.
But when an immigrants commits a crime, it gets highlighted and reported in the press.

The American Playboys do get caught and to tell you the truth, most of these offenders belong to the low income group. However you are right about the media publicizing a crime simply because an immigrant committed it. It is shameful. "And they call themselves an unbiased media

The spolit brats of the rich Dad's are the leaders in this area.
In that respect the US is not that different from India where the sons or relatives of the MPs and MLAs are the biggest thugs.
A lot of the sons and daughters of the so-called US Senators and Congressmen are notorious for various reasons (GWB's neice being an example).
The ones from low-income groups have some shadow of an excuse - poverty, unemployment, discrimination from society, racism (esp. since a majority of them are African-Americans).
