Isaac Newton sat under the apple tree and discovered the law of gravity, while a general labour like me made these observations and my mind goes Hmm!(Just like in the song \"My heart goes Hmm! in the Hindi Film, Salam Namaste).
1.Why do Desis wear really good and thick jackets, with head caps and muffler,while they wear Chappals or Sandals (without socks)and come to Wal-Mart in Winter?(This was a question a Gori asked me, when I was signing her up for a Master Card).
2.Why do Desis start talking in Hindi to fellow Desis after confirming the other person is from India?(the reason being there are plenty of South Indians who do not know Hindi).
3.Why are people waving flags of Mexico, El Salvador, Colombia and other South American country flags, while protesting the new immigration reforms in USA ?(Lou Dobbs observed, as they are asking for US citizenship, atleast they could be waving American Flag).
4.Why do Desis do not do any research on Canada, their employment potential, job market and on other related questions, but do so much market research and bargain hunting while buying a bag of Atta or Aloo after they land here?
5.Why do most of the Goras always drive American Cars, seldom you find them drive Japanese Cars?
6.Why do people ask after general introduction, this question of \"Where are you from, which I thought initially was the area of residence in Toronto, which I later learnt as which country did you immigrate from, which makes me ask myself, when will I ever be Canadian?.
7.Why do they put a word called \"Right\" after every sentence in Canada ?.
8.Why is it that more than 5% of the official Canadian Citizens reside officially outside Canada in places like Hong Kong, India, USA and other locations?.
9.Why does every person from Punjab want to reside in Brampton?.
10.Why do most of the Goras feel that you from a foreign land is taking away his space, eventhough they did it to Native Indians a few generation ago?
11.Why do most of Desis, hang their wet clothes in the balcony, in place of using the drier?
My mind goes Hmmm....., while asking these questions to myself!

TK-> Once in winter -30 deg., i went to loblaws with shorts , slippers , baniyan and no head covering . All in Loblaws were shocked and commented behind my back. But these "Gora's" donot know one thing. We come from a hot land and we enjoy cold. Besides it is only from your car to the entrance of the mall. once inside then it is terrible hot anyway. These "Gora's" have been here for so long that they hate the cold. Once the cold season come every one has running nose.For cold weather, you need to cover your ears and chest and that is what those gentle men did. Other exposed areas may be subject to frost bite but you will not fall sick.
Personally on Sat. and sundays (if i donot do office work) i never take bath , brush my teeth etc.. i just enjoy roaming around. If there is a garage sale in the summer i make it a point not to miss it. You get good deals and you may even end up having some free cookies (Note : Not all cookies , coffee or lemonade is free. Some small children even earn money out of it. First find out if the Cookie/Coffee is free, then eat it. Lemonade is seldom free- Just a word of caution to new immigrants. Once they charged me 25 cents for a cookie and i am very very careful after that)
One interesting event comes to my mind when i say this. I bought a second hand small purse to give to my cousin in india, in a garage sale here for 50 cents. when i go home and open it i find a Toonie ($2 inside it). But not all my experience is like that. Once i bought a Vaccum cleaner for $5 and it did not work and so i had to throw it into the garbage.

TK-> Happened to me a lot of times. North indians think that Hindi is the national Language of India and South Indians think that since Tamil is an ancient language, it is more important than Hindi. Besides many north indians are not comfortable in English and hence Hindi to communicate better. While the Tamils have been born and brought up with the fact that if you learn hindi then the north indians will concour your land. That is what kamaraj, Anna , karunanithi and MGR have led us to belive. Nehru ji came to Tamil nadu and promised the Tamils that he will never make the Tamils learn Hindi ( a political game). But it must be noted that since many tamils donot know hindi our state's development has been retarded.
In saudi arabia , Hindi was the second language of the country.

TK-> People come to America for better life and money but their heart is at home. Many send money to their native country and relatives are there. America is just a place to earn money. Canot blame them. Also you canot bring parents and relatives to be with you in USa.

TK-> In Canada, you need to be a Gora to get jobs. Desi's know that. Gora's and Desi's are open to deals and so Desi's bargain. One of my friend went to a Gora barber who charges $12 per hair cut. he said hair cut for him and his 2 children for $20 flat. The Gora agreed. But if you go to a Gora co. and ask him for job saying that you will take $2 per hour less than a Gora of your same education and maybe lesser experience, you still will be kicked out.

Point 11 was not a joke. It really happened. For people who always doubt my statements let me tell you how it happened.
This individual got a shoe rack made of wood in the garbage. He opened the oven, put in on and then put his washed dress on the shoe rack and placed it on the opened oven cover. So the heat of the oven dried the cloth. This was done in peak winter. In summer he dried it up on the balcony.

Sidenote : I never (till today) put my inner wear / socks to laundry. I wash them in the tub with RIN soap and then dry them in the house. I do this for Hygine purpose rather than saving money.
Sidenote 2 : Since many people think that my disclaimers were meant to create laughter rather than protect myself legally, i am stopping my disclaimers. If i put any statements on the Have Fun section then i will put my disclaimers there.
