Hello All First let me thank the people who has put this forum together, great job guys.

I applied from within Canada. I came here on Student visa and then remained on TRV.
Here is my time line and hope this helps

Applied July 03 AOR August 03.
IA May 04 Interview required and File transferred to Detroit.
File transfer Completed in June
Completed my medicals in June and my RCMP Fingerprinting
and started to wait checking Detroit Site every day for update and ECAS nothing changed.
January 05 I received a letter asking to attend interview in March 05.
I had to apply for US visa from Toronto, No questions were asked, he just wanted to make sure I am on status in Canada, on confirming that he granted me 3 months Multiple entry to US.
I traveled by Greyhound to US, didn’t have problem in US border.

I reached the CIC Detroit 1 hour earlier was taken in and just wanted to know about my Work exp and about my HRDC job offer (which she felt is not genuine, and didn’t take that in to consideration) She just told me I qualify even without HRDC and hence she is awarding me Canadian Immigration. She wanted me to Pay my ROLF and she also took my Bank balance letter and latest police clearance (I submitted one earlier) To be frank she had gone through each and every paper in my file. She asked me to pick up my passport at 2.00pm and had my visa stamped. I landed on the same day at Windsor.

If any one wants specific details do write to me.

Dude

:cheers:

You say you came on a student visa and then remained on a TRV. What is TRV?

Also what is AOR and IA?

Did you have anywork experience before coming as a student? Is there not a mandatory requirement of one year of work experience to be eligible for PR?

What is HRDC job offer?

Temporary Resident Visa

AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt
IA = Initial Assessment

A job offer validated by HRDC, giving you additional points for the PR application.

Thanks pratickm.

How does one get this Temp Resident Visa? I didn't even know such a category of visa existed. So, you mean a student can come here on a student visa, and then apply for the TRV and continue to stay here till he gets his regular immigration as a PR?

Student visa , visiter visa, temporary work permit ..etc... These all are considered as Temporary Resident Visa.
A student needs to maintain his/her status in Canada as a temporary resident untill he/she gets P R.
There is no such visa category as TRV.

"Remained on TRV" That can be any other status as work permit or visiter visa except PR ...
