Are single desis really helpless in canada?

I work for a desi company , the people are very good and helpful but i guess the work ethics is what really bothered me.

Recently they hired one desi girl, she wasnt experienced enough for that position, knowing this they hired here... coz you can make her work more & pay less

She dint meet their expectation, and they decided to fire her, so they started
looking for people behind her back, finally she realised they were looking and she asked them. They blindly refused that and convinced her it was for another position.

She bought that , she started working sincerely and more than what her job profile was supposed to do... to certain extend some general labor jobs too.

And after 1 week of hardcore general labor work, she was fired one evening..I felt very bad but yet I dint say anything..coz i'm a single guy working my way out.. with no other support here. Relying on myself and canadian govt.

So if i upset my employer I will be the next target..! How sad right...

I've been asking this question in my mind since then Why are we like this?!

Well my experience wasn't to blame the desi's collectively.

Being single is a major factor , you have no support . When you are in Canada and not completely established, your main source of income is your work, and your life depends on that. (if u dont want to settle with welfare)

So being single really holds you to be silent to certain things u see which are against your ethics..

Again its just a remote incident, not to offend desi's

It all depends on how you look at it. When you are married and have a family you have a lot more responsibilities. But when you are single all you have to do is take care of yourself.
Each coin has two sides my friend. Try to put yourself in the shoes of a person has lost his/her job, has 2 kids and the spouse isnt working, you will never complain about being single.

When you have put it that way, it feels good to know that she was single too.

what you said was right, its coin with two sides or a two edge sword:)

Whether it is desi or non desi, hiring and firing are common in North America. At least she had some clue, but did not make use of it. This is the way things work in NA, my friend. There is a lesson to be learnt. Keep your cv updated all the time. U never know.

I understand that, jobs are insecure, but what concerned me more than that was she was over utilised and then discarded...may be its very common, this was my first incident so left a shock inside me...
