hi I'm applying for me and my wife. We do not have birth certificates, and have requested the same from the authorities. Our application packet other than the Birth certificates, is complete. Can we file in the application to get and earlier priority date and mail other applications as we recieve them in the next 2 months?
Please advise,
Kiran

When I applied 5 1/2 years ago thru Buffalo, I also didn't have the birth certificate and didn't sent one ever.
I attached a notarized highschool marksheet (issued by state) that showed my date of birth in lieu of the birth certificate with an explanation about unavailability of birth certificate.
According to my parents, there was never a birth certificate issued by government at the time of my birth. I guess according to Indian government, I wasn't ever born even though they issued me a passport. ;-)
In the end, I had no trouble getting PR and have been in Canada for 4 years and 7 months now.

Kchelluri,
Pratickm is right about sending application in one lot.
However in case birth certificates are not available, (as system came into vogue in India in 1960s in graded manner) notarised copy of class X or XI or XII certificate (bearing date of birth) is also taken as official.
Then do it as AnilKG says.
But send the complete set. (Either with birth certificate or notarised copy of Class X certificate ).
It will be much faster.
Best of luck.
We also did not have birth certificates and did not give one. Here we are in Vancouver. What we did though, was, we went to the place of our birth and asked the authorities to give a letter as to our birth was not registered and hence Birth Certificate could not be issued. In my husband's case, we got one like that. In my case, my birth was registered and I got my birth certificate. But, I did not give that too.Just gave copy of the SSLC certificate. Not having a birth certificate is not a problem at all.

HOPE
I went to the Indian Consulate in New York and they issued me a birth certificate (same day) on the basis of my passport particulars. Cost 20 bucks.
