Hi There ,
Just a quick question for you all . I am applying for my child's PIO. In this case child is Canadian Citizen by birth and holds Canadian Passport. What kind of Birth Certificate do we need to provide while applying for PIO...?
Long or short birth certificate provided by canadian authorities ?
Can I just apply with only short birth certificate or it's mandatory to have long birth certificate ? Thanks for your time in advance.

Birth certificate should have BOTH parents' names. I believe that short form does not meet the criteria.
The other thing you need to consider is that VFS is not accepting PIO applications; you need to go to CGI.
Thanks ....Interesting as Canadian Govt has no problem in issuing CDN passport baed on short birth certificate why Indian consulate need to help Canadian Economy by supporting this? I understand their requirements but just wondering if any one tried short cetificate and got send back. Anyone please feel free to comment . Thanks

Indian consulate, Indian rules.
It could get rejected and then you have to go again. If you want to save time and get it done in one shot, it is best to go prepared with all the documents, pictures and all the photocopies they require. Read each and every line stated on their website. Also child needs to put their signature or thumb impression if they cannot sign.

Agree with rajcanada. Read their website carefully. Why take a chance going all the way to CGI's office, wasting time and paying parking when you do not have the requisite documents. Go prepared with all documents.
