We are currently living and working here at the US and we are landing in canada as landed migrant . We plan to bring(in future) our some appliances such as computers, TV, and Home theater systems. Will we be required to pay for taxes in Canada? Or will we even be allowed to bring them? Is it better to sell these items here in the US and just buy a new one in Canada?

Will we be required to pay for taxes in Canada?
Quote:Yes, landed immigrants are allowed to bring in all their personal stuff, with a few restrictions and limitations.
Or will we even be allowed to bring them?
Quote:That is your decision based on a comparison between the cost of importing and the cost of buying new in Canada.

Is there a place where we can do the comparison giving us an idea as to how much it would cost us to buy the required things in Canada versus moving them there?
We are also debating about furniture especially the heavier ones like sofa/chairs/tables/cupboards. How much on an average would they cost , helping us to make the decision of either moving or buying upon landing?
