Hi Guys,
I will be moving to Canada in end of October (Toronto) with my family.
I have been working in USA for last 7 years in computers in an ERP package SAP.
Yesterday i gave notice to my USA employer and they want me to work for them as a remote resource from Canada.
My employer does not have presence in Canada, so not sure
1. How Payroll will work and how Taxes will be calculated. (Will i be paying taxes in US or Canada)
2. Will i have to incorporate in USA or Canada to implement this.
Will appreciate if you could help me.
Thanks.
No taker for this question
1. You will incorporate here in Canada and your company will bill the US employer for your services. You do not need to incorporate in USA unless you want to grow BIG and have a presence in USA.
2. You run payroll here (Canada) and pay taxes here.
3. For tax caliculation, go to Revenue Canada website and you will find online payroll caliculator. Also it will be a good idea to contact a CGA for more details on Tax.
4. Currently, If you do not want to get into incoporation and related responsibilities, join an existing company (Most likely a Desi Canadian Company) that will take you as an employee and do the the business with your US employer if it is acceptable to your US employer.
5. I hope this helps you. If you need any further assistance you may also send an email to and most of the advises are free.
Best
Thanks a lot Gurram, appreciate your reply on this.
based on your response, i will incorporate in Canada and bill USA company for my consulting.
Do you know any good charted accountants or financial consultants, who can help me with:
1. Incorporation.
2. Running payrol on regular basis.
3. Filing taxes for the company.
Will appreciate if you can give some refrences.
